Molecular Computing and Biological Modeling

The topics of the course  will be organized in four one hour lectures:

1. Life, computation, and biological modeling. Molecular Computing, Systems Biology and Synthetic Biology: the role of algorithms and computations, examples, trends and challenges.

2. Discrete models of metabolism. Introduction to P and MP systems. MP graphs and MP grammars. Regulators and tuners. Examples and classes of MP models.

3. Inverse dynamical problems in biological modeling. The log-gain theory of MP systems and its validation. Comparisons with ODE and stochastic models. MetaPlab software. MP dynamics.

4. Metabolic oscillators. Metabolic approximation. Metabolic computation.
Extensions, applications and open problems.
